The Atacama Desert is also home to some of the largest copper mines in the world. further south is the capital, Santiago. Santiago is a large, metropolitan city with a population of over 6 million people. The city is home to many large businesses and is the financial center of Chile. South of Santiago is the Chilean wine country. The climate in this region is perfect for grapevines, and Chile is now the fifth largest exporter of wine in the world. The southernmost part of Chile is Patagonia. Patagonia is a large region that covers both Chile and Argentina. The landscape here is very different from the rest of Chile, and is home to many glaciers and national parks.
